William “Bill” R. Reames went to be with the Lord on his birthday February 13, 2020 – at his home here in Carlsbad, New Mexico – surrounded by his loving family. Bill was born in Ore City, Texas. Growing up in Mt. Pleasant, Texas, and graduated from high school in 1955. In 1957, he entered the United States Airforce, and was stationed at Walker Airforce Base in Roswell, NM. In 1963 – while in the Airforce – he met the love of his life, Wanda Moore, and was married January 28, 1959. After his time served with the Airforce, the couple moved to Artesia, NM. Bill began work with Southern Union Gas Co. and worked for them for 32 years. The couple moved to Carlsbad in 1976 – Bill later retired from the Gas Co. in 1995. Bill was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan, and he loved to watch his grandsons play little league baseball. He also enjoyed going back home to visit his family.
Cremation has taken place, and the family held a come-and-go gathering at their house Sunday, February 16, 2020, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Denton-Wood Funeral home is in charge of making arrangements.
Bill was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Reames; and mother, Roxie Whitfield Reames.
Bill is survived by his wife, Wanda Reames of Carlsbad, NM; daughter, Sondra Stroble and husband, Johnny of Carlsbad, NM; son, Denny Reames of Carlsbad, NM; grandson, Casey Kincaid and wife, Merretta of Texas City, TX; grandson Dylan Stroble of Carlsbad, NM; great-grandson, Devin Kincaid; and great-granddaughter, Amelia Kincaid.
