Ycela "Blacky" Rubio Sosa

Ycela “Blacky” Rubio Sosa, 68, of Carlsbad, NM passed away on Monday, December 6, 2021, at her home. Ycela was born on November 27, 1953, in Carlsbad, NM to Manuel and Maria Rubio, Sr.

Visitation is scheduled from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM Wednesday, December 15, 2021, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel, followed by a vigil starting at 6:00 PM. A graveside service is scheduled for 1:00 PM Thursday, December 16, 2021, at the Carlsbad Cemetery in Carlsbad, NM with Deacon Melvin Balderrama officiating. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements

During high school, Ycela met the love of her life and married Estanislado on August 19, 1969. They then started their family having four beautiful daughters. Ycela was a loving mother and grandmother, and she had a loving heart to all those around her. She loved spending any time with her family, making memories for a lifetime. She will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

Ycela was preceded in death by her father, Manuel Rubio, Sr.; mother, Maria Rubio; brother, Manuel Rubio, Jr.; grandson, Jeremiah Sandavol; and her dog Blanco.

Ycela is survived by her husband, Estanislado Sosa, Jr. of Carlsbad, NM; four daughters: Sonya Sosa and Brandon Sandoval of Albuquerque, NM; Sophia Sosa and John Vasquez of Carlsbad, NM; Bianca Sosa and Jimmy Rodriguez of Carlsbad, NM; Nakita Sosa and Carlos Martinez of Carlsbad, NM; and Yulita Melendrez of Carlsbad, NM; thirteen grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister, Belinda Rubio of Carlsbad, NM; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Pallbearers will be the following: Jimmy John Rodriguez, Carlos Martinez, Chris Rubio, Victor Valles, Cassius Rivers, and Jayden Mackey. Honorary pallbearers are: all of her grandchildren.
