Wanda Maxwell

Wanda Maxwell, 89, former resident, passed away on October 17, 2025, in Fort Worth, Texas. 

Visitation will be 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Thursday, October 23, 2025, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Graveside services are scheduled for 11:00 AM, Friday, October 24, 2025, at Carlsbad Cemetery with Richard West officiating. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Wanda was born April 28, 1936, in Olney, Texas to Rudolph and Vada (Choate) Wright. She married Ralph Thomas Maxwell May 24, 1959, in Aiken, South Carolina. In the early years, Wanda worked at the Loving Cotton Gin. Ralph’s work with El Paso Natural Gas took them to Needles, California, Ehrenberg, Arizona, and then back to Carlsbad. Wanda worked as a kindergarten teacher aid while in Ehrenberg. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ralph Thomas Maxwell, and brother, Charles Wright.

Survivors are her son, Thomas Maxwell and wife, LaDonna; daughter, Sandra Bender and husband, Tracy; grandchildren: Conner Tharp and husband, Wyatt, Ashlyn Pape and husband, Timothy, Caleb Bender and wife, Rebecca; great-grandchildren: Evelyn Tharp, Cayden Pape, and Charlotte Pape.
