Obituary Vickie Mendez Rodriguez, 84, of North Maple Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2020 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Private services will be held at Carlsbad Cemetery. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Vickie Mendez Rodriguez was born December 10, 1935 in Lamesa, Texas to Jose Angel and Manuela (Leos) Mendez. She worked as a nurse aide over 20 years at Carlsbad Medical Center. Vickie was a member of San Jose Catholic Church where she volunteered with church spiritual hour. She enjoyed gardening and sewing, but most of all she loved baking and being with family. Vickie was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Belinda Ortiz; brothers: William, James, Rudy and Manuel Mendez. Survivors are her children: Brenda Marquez, Larry Rodriguez and wife, Renee, Ricky Mendez and wife, Felisha and Teresa Salang; 13 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; brothers: Joe Mendez, David Mendez, Lupe Mendez; sisters: Helen Galindo and Lucy Fierro and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Rick Mendez, Sr., Ricky Mendez, Jr., Larry Rodriguez, John Ortiz, Miguel Mendez, Tony Galindo and Timothy Mendez.
