Vickie Sue (Marrs) Garcia, 73, of Oceanside, CA passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2024. Vickie was born on June 22, 1950, in Roswell, NM.
Cremation has taken place, and a graveside service is scheduled for 10:00 AM Saturday, June 22, 2024, at the Carlsbad Cemetery in Carlsbad, NM with Associate Pastor Kevin Pence officiating. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Vickie grew up in Roswell, NM, and then after school, she moved to California where she started working for the government. She then met and married Tony Garcia on September 19, 1981. They moved around California before finally settling down in Oceanside, CA. Vickie was dedicated to working with the Internation Order of Rainbow for Girls, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Mayflower Society. She had a passion for helping others, and she was known for sending notes to her friends and family. Her kind and humors personality always brightened the room when she walked in. Vickie was always down for an adventure and was always on the go. When her children were little, she would throw tea parties for them, and this tradition continued on for her grandchildren as well. Christmas was always a special time of the year, and with her love of all things Hallmark, she would go above and beyond when it came to decorating. Vickie was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and she would always remind her kids that she was a grandmother before she was a mother. She will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
Vickie was preceded in death by her mother, Tommie (Pickens) Marrs.
Vickie is survived by her husband, Tony Garcia of Oceanside, CA; five children: Randi Garcia of Lemoore, CA; Jonathan Garcia of Portsmouth, VA; Linda Ruiz, and husband, Henry of Phoenix, AZ; John Garcia and wife, Cherri of Mountainair, NM; and Lilian Patnode and husband, Terry of Phoenix, AZ; twelve grandchildren: Tyler, Isabel, Joey, Marie, Sheree, Desiree, Tony, Desha, Kiki, Mya, Ryan, and Samantha; ten great grandchildren; and numerous extended family and friends.
