Sylvia Godinez, 70, passed away December 2, 2025 in Lubbock, Texas.
Visitation is scheduled from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM, Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Rosary will be recited at 9:30 AM, Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at San Jose Catholic Church followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM, with Fr. Juan Carlos Ramirez officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, NM. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Sylvia Godinez was born in Carlsbad NM, on October 1, 1955 to Baudelia and Osvaldo Castillo.
Sylvia was raised in Carlsbad until 1963 when the family moved to Bakersfield California, where she and her family worked in the grape fields until age 10. At the age of 13, little did she know walking into a corner store would she wind up meeting the love of her life and future husband, Javier, there was no separation from that point on. In 1972 Sylvia, her family and Javier would come back to Carlsbad and begin life. Sylvia and Javier were married on August 24, 1973.
Sylvia is proceeded in death by her parents Baudelia and Osvaldo Castillo.
She is survived by her husband, Javier Godinez; son, Javier Godinez Jr.; daughters: Bianca Duran, Cory Godinez, and Jade Morales; grandchildren: Honorio, Adrian, and Emily Duran, Mariah, Miklo, Mya, Angel, and Jay Godinez, Nyallie and Xaiver Anaya; great-grandchildren: Angelo and Antonio Vasquez, Asaiah, Azayla, and Amia'Amor Garavito, Andres Angelo Duran, Xaiver, Ziah, Javier, and Jayven Godinez, Rylynn and Skylynn Sosa, Joseph and Analeigh Carrasco, Isabella and Adriana Griego, Zion Depue, Emilliano and Elisio Godinez; sisters: Rita Reyna, Sandra Carnero, Marcelina Castillo, Ramona West; brothers: Albert, Abel, and Marty Castillo.
Sylvia was the sweetest most kindhearted woman there ever was, she loved everyone. Her home was a safe place to so many. Sylvia was the most amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and so much more. She enjoyed the casino, traveling with her husband, and shopping especially around this time of the year. She loved to put a smile on everyone's faces.
Sylvia will be greatly missed and forever loved by so many. The Lord blessed us all with this amazing woman and we are forever thankful.
Pallbearers will be Miklo, Jay and Xaiver Godinez, Honorio and Adrian Duran, Angelo and Antonio Vasquez, and Xaiver Anaya.
