It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Sylvia Nava Acevedo, age 66, of Carlsbad, New Mexico, who passed away at her home on July 1, 2026. Sylvia was a devoted and godly woman. Her life was a living testament to her unwavering faith, characterized by a quiet grace, a servant’s heart, and a deep love for the Lord Jesus. She was a gentle but powerful prayer warrior, and her steadfast witness brought light, wisdom, and comfort to everyone fortunate enough to cross her path. Sylvia was a cherished woman who poured her heart into her family. She loved deeply, gave selflessly, and her children and grandchildren rise up and call her blessed. She taught those around her that faith is best shown through actions and unconditional love.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rudy Acevedo Sr.; father, Gilbert Nava Sr.; her mother, Juanita Nava; her brothers, Hector Nara Sr. and Gilbert (Slick) Nava; and her sisters, Olga Garcia and Lina Nava.
She leaves behind a beautiful legacy of faith and is survived by her sons, Patrick Chunie Acevedo, Rudy Acevedo Jr.; her daughter, Blanca Acevedo; her grandsons, Patrick Jayovoni Acevedo, Joeziah Acevedo, Jayce Acevedo, Marco Galindo Jr., Ezekiel Gray, Rudy Acevedo III and Amado Acevedo; her granddaughters, Amiyah Acevedo, Hayleigh Acevedo, Aliannah Galindo and Aubrie Gray; her great-grandson, Joeziah Jayvon Acevedo; and a great-granddaughter, Jaylani Acevedo.
