On Wednesday, March 21, 2012, Sybil Black died peacefully leaving her earthly home and going to her heavenly home to be with her Lord. She was a long-time resident of Carlsbad, NM, having moved there with her family in 1920, from Arkansas. For the past two years she resided in Albuquerque with her daughter, Marlene Blair and son-in-law, Jack Blair. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Carlsbad most of her life and taught Sunday school there for more than 40 years and loved hiding Easter eggs for her class at the public library lawn. Sybil was born February 7, 1918, in Danville, Arkansas and was known for her sense of humor, love of gardening and devotion to family and church. She enjoyed playing dominos with her friends. Sybil was preceded in death by her father and mother; five brothers; one sister; her husband, Roger Black and her daughter, Donna Sue Hyatt. She is survived by her daughter, Marlene Blair and husband Jack Blair; daughter, Sandy Bacon and husband, Bob Bacon; granddaughters: Michelle Perry and husband, Curtis Perry, Angie Nance, Lauren Hegna and husband, Corey Hegna, Leslie Johnson; grandsons: David Daniel, Stephen Daniel and wife, Debbie Daniel, Michael Daniel and wife, Stacia and numerous great- grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Sybil will be deeply missed and loved by all who knew her. A Memorial Service to celebrate Sybil's life will be held Saturday, March 31, 2012, at 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church, 112 N. Alameda Street, Carlsbad, NM with her son-in-law, Pastor Bob Bacon officiating. Immediately following the memorial service, friends and family are invited to the entombment at Carlsbad Cemetery.
