Steve T Marquez 60 of Eastvale, CA passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, August 10, 2024, with his wife and sons by his side.
A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 201 5th Street, Dexter, NM 88230 at 10:00 am on Saturday, August 24,2024 with Pastor Susan Zampella officiating. We will share a potluck meal after the service to allow a time of fellowship and remembrance, which is something that Steve would love.
Steve was born on September 17,1963 in Roswell, NM to Lino Cano and Francisca Torres. He was the youngest of 12 children born to the family.
Steve attended elementary and junior high school in Dexter and went on to graduate from Dexter High in 1981. After graduation, Steve enlisted in the US Navy and served his country for two terms (8 yrs). Steve had the opportunity to travel overseas while on duty. During his term, Steve spent his time on the USS Bagley and USS Roanoke.
After completing his military service, Steve settled in Orange County, California and began working with Southern California Soccer Association. Steve enjoyed his job and dedicated 33 years to working with the youth.
During this time Steve met the love of his life Denyce, they were later married and blessed with two amazing sons. Logan was the first to arrive and two years later, Colin arrived completing their family.
At a young age, Steve could be found with a camera hanging from his neck. He loved photography and was always ready to take a photo. He was not about to miss an opportunity to capture an amazing sunset or an unsuspecting family member. Steve carried the love of photography thru his life and had some amazing photos to share.
Steve was also known for his love of cooking. He planned his menu, did the shopping, prepared the ingredients and made an amazing Chicken Fettuccini dinner including salad and bread. He was known as a bit of a foodie.
Steve was very interested in History, roots of language and always kept up with important world issues.
Although, work and life kept Steve from traveling to New Mexico to visit his family as often as he would have liked, he stayed in touch with his siblings and friends thru phone calls and social media. Steve has left such a void in our family and we miss him tremendously.
Until we see you again little brother…
