Obituary Shirley Hotrod Dickerson, 83, of North Guadalupe Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Monday, January 18, 2021 at Memorial Hospital in Las Cruces. Private graveside service will be heldat Sunset Gardens Memorial Park with Rev. James McCormick officiating. The service will be live-streamed and can be viewed by clicking here at 3:00 PM, MST, Tuesday, January 26, 2021.Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Shirley Hotrod Dickerson was born September 19, 1937 in Notomine, West Virginia to Ed and Esta (Brown) Dickerson. He worked for 3 years in coal mines before moving to Carlsbad in 1965. Hotrod went to work in the potash mines retiring after 40 years of service. He played softball with the potash mine teams for years, where he was pitcher. Hotrod married Juanita, December 28, 1978. He cut and sold firewood to many people over the years. Shirley enjoyed hunting, horseshoes, and old cars. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother: Charles Dickerson, sister: Ada May Dickerson. Survivors are wife of 43 years Juanita Dickerson; daughter: Bambi Padget; son: Kenneth Dickerson; daughter: Julie Zitz and husband, Stephan; son: Timothy Carpenter and wife, Terisa; 12 grandchildren; 9 Great-grandchildren; brothers: Lawrence Dickerson, Melvin Butch Dickerson and wife, Wanda; sisters: Nell Ward and Dolly Holderman and numerous nieces and nephews.
