Sharon I. Warren-Briggs

Sharon I. Warren-Briggs, 75, of Carlsbad, NM passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at home. Sharon was born on August 15, 1948, in Augsburg, Germany.

Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 PM Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home with Steve Miller officiating.

Sharon’s life went thru stages starting with pouring all her attention into her son Michael and seeing that he had a great education, love and care. Sharon was so proud that Michael was accepted and received his Engineering Degree from New Mexico School of Mines and used that degree to obtain work with the Las Alamos National Laboratory.

After Michael was established and settled, Sharon went to Santa Fe, NM to work as Deputy Secretary of State for the State of NM. Sharon loved politics and threw her whole energy into this role. In 1992 she returned to Carlsbad to work for Department of Energy at the Waste Isolation Pilot Project. She worked out one of her best niches – records management and control which remained her mission until she retired.

After moving back to Carlsbad in 1992 Sharon met her husband Lucky Briggs. They were married in 1995 and started a journey that included: cruising, RV camping and politics. She worked with Lucky to get him elected as a County Commissioner, leading to many activities around New Mexico, one of her favorite periods.

Above all, Sharon loved her home and making her home a beautiful place to live. She cleaned, decorated, cleaned and cleaned again. She loved helping people and being called upon for favors which she performed over and over again.

Sharon’s life was cut short by cancer. She and Lucky were looking forward to a future to include spending time with grandchildren in Colorado, more RVing and cruising. Sharon will be truly be missed by her husband and her two golden retrievers - Casey and Lacey.

Sharon was preceded in death by her mother, Gerda Estes; father, George Estes; and son, Michael Mashaw.

Sharon is survived by her husband, Lucky Briggs of Carlsbad, NM; three daughters: Dana Robb and husband, John Paul of Broomfield, CO; Denise Miller and husband, Steve of Arvado, CO; and Lori Eggers and husband, Brandon of Longmont, CO; five grandchildren: Colin Robb, Caitlin Robb, Kailey Miller, Kaleb Eggers, and Kyle Eggers; three brothers, Chester Estes and wife, Annette of Albuquerque, NM; Michael Estes and wife, Sandra of Tucson, AZ; and Richard Estes and wife, Carol of Albuquerque, NM; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
