Seleta Hooten

Seleta Hooten, age 77, passed away on July 24, 2025 at Carlsbad Medical Center in Carlsbad, NM. A memorial service will take place at 2:00 PM, Saturday, August 2, 2025 at First Christian Church with Pastor David W. Rogers officiating. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Seleta was born on March 5, 1948 to Marvin Eugene and Betty Lee (Roland) Philpot in Eunice, NM. She graduated from Artesia High School in 1966. Seleta raised her three children and later loved spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed fishing, yard sales and playing poker. Seleta never turned down the opportunity to drive her dune buggy at the sand dunes. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harold Fancher, and sister Leonora Kupcak.

Seleta is survived by her sons: Kenny Bob Hooten and wife, Tunie, Stephen Hooten and Terri Ruff; daughter, Cindy Blair and husband, Wayne, Jr.; grandchildren: Kenny Dayne Hooten, Nicholas Robert Hooten, Michael Hooten, Mandy Hooten, Michalee Hooten, Madison Blair, Shae-Lee Blair and Zane Blair; great-grandchildren: Esme Dunaway, Jeremiah Blair, Joey Blair, Noah Blair and Heavenly Austin; the father to her children, Kenneth Hooten Sr.; and two nieces.
