Scott was born in Ellsworth, Kansas February 27, 1952, to Jack and Golda Cassingham who have preceded him to heaven.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of nearly 52 years, Bertha Cassingham. His pride and joy are his 3 children; Katie Appling, Clint Cassingham, and Dona Cassingham, as well as his grandchildren; Isaac Ramponi, Rebekah Ramponi, Joshua Ramponi, Abigail Ramponi, Jack Cassingham, Scottie Dewey, Roy Eugene Dewey, and Wyatt Dewey as well as 2 great grandchildren.
Scott’s focus was on implementing Gods will in his life when he went home to heaven to accept his next assignment as part of Gods plan and purpose for his eternal life. As an added blessing from God he was freed of the pain and suffering of a rare aggressive form of leukemia that in the end had left him unconscious here at home on hospice as he wanted to be with family, his new puppy-Faith, and watch westerns. He had lived an extraordinary life filled with adventure in many countries, challenges from Vietnam, to 14 submarine patrols, military awards, start up of Comanche Peak Nuclear Power Plant and start up of the Waste Isolation Pilot Project. He had a love and caring of family and family unity like no other always ensuring our home was available to care for family members as needed. As a Texas Cowboy his love of the Old West, whether breaking mustangs, working on rebuilding his trail of tears Conestoga wagon for Chuck wagon cooking, or SASS competitive old west shooting were favorite activities. His love of God, country, family, and friends was always top in his heart. A man of high integrity he would always challenge those around him from children and grand children to friends, and employees to be the best version of themselves they could be. An extraordinary motivator. Though he had a tough exterior, his heart was of gold. He would never hesitate to give his last to someone in need. His legacy will live on forever through the many stories ( he was known for his sea stories) he shared and the memories of those who had the opportunity to know him. He will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, friend, and boss.
