Sacarias S. "Pancho" Doporto, 90, of Linda Court, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away November 5, 2009 at his home. Visitation will be 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM Sunday, November 8, 2009 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel. A Prayer service is scheduled for 6:00 PM, Sunday, November 8, 2009 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, November 9, 2009, 10:30 AM, at Carlsbad Family Fellowship with Pastor Rick Ketterling officiating. Interment will follow in Santa Catarina Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard will provide military honors. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Sacarias S. "Pancho" Doporto was born September 6, 1919 in Barstow, Texas to Ventura and Rufina (Saiz) Doporto. He married Francisca "Kica" Martinez April 27, 1940 in Carlsbad. Pancho served his country in the US Army during WW II. He worked at Buford Farmers in the early years and also worked for Stearns-Rogers Construction. Pancho went to work in the Potash Mines in 1952 and retired from AMAX after 30 years of service. He enjoyed gardening and riding his horses, but most of all he loved spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 65 years, "Kica" Doporto; five brothers and three sisters. Survivors include six children: Andres Doporto and wife, Priscilla of Alamogordo, NM, Nora Baiza and husband, Dan of Roswell, NM, Elisa Granado and husband, Raymond of Morton, TX, Eva Lopez and husband, David of Carlsbad, NM, Sacarias Doporto, Jr. and wife, Margie of Carlsbad, NM, Ventura Doporto and wife Rosa, of Bledsoe, TX; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brothers: Jose De La Luz Doporto of Lordsburg, NM, Elias Doporto of Roswell, NM; sister: Celedonia Guzman of Houston, TX; numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Mark Doporto, Aaron Farmer, Raymond Granado, Jr., David Lopez, Jr., Richard Lopez, Joel Doporto. Honorary pallbearers are Kenneth Lopez, Keith Lopez, Tony Martinez, Corine Wilson, Linda Doporto. Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com.
