Sabino Martinez, Sr.

Sabino Martinez, Sr., 71 of Carlsbad, Nm, passed away on September 12, 2025, at his son’s home surrounded by his loved ones. Cremation will take place and a memorial service will be held at 2 PM, Friday, September 19, 2025, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplin Dennis Durfee officiating.

Sabino was born on April 3, 1954, in Carlsbad, NM. He graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1973. Sabino went to work for the City of Carlsbad, and retired after 31 years of service. He enjoyed playing softball, playing games, watching football, and spending time with family and friends. He devoted his life to his kids and grandkids, and he never missed an opportunity to coach or to watch his kids and grandkids play sports. He was his kids and grandkids # 1 fan. Sabino was an amazing father, brother, and friend. He will be greatly missed.

Sabino is preceded in death by his mother, Juana, Aragon, and brother, Basilio Martinez. Survivors are his children: Patricia Collier and her husband, Wes, Sabino Martinez, Jr., and his wife, Crystal, Jazmyn Garcia, and her husband, Brenden; grandchildren: Trent Collier, Saydi Estrada and husband,Jesus, Matthew Martinez and wife, Savannah, Jaci Parraz and husband, Joel, Jaden Sloan and wife, Halle, Jayde, Elayna and Bella Garcia; great grandchildren: Liam and Noah Estrada, and Ivlee Martinez; brother Henry Martinez, sister Jeannie Rodriguez, nephew, Thomas Martinez, and many other nephews and nieces.

Honorary pallbearers are Lawrence Castillo, Manuel Hernandez, Kris Carlson, Henry Martinez, Matthew Martinez, Thomas Martinez, Trent Collier, and Moses Palomino.

The family would like to thank Enhabit Hospice for the wonderful care they gave Sabino. They would like to give a special thank you to Sabino‘s loving daughter-in-law, Crystal, who took amazing care of him day and night, and to his good friend, Adela Caddell, who was always there to help him.
