Ruben Galvan, Sr.

Ruben Galvan, Sr., 72, former resident, passed away December 8, 2025 in La Mesa, Texas.

Visitation will be from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM, Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home, followed by vigil at 6:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 11:00 AM, Thursday, December 18, 2025 at San Jose Catholic Church with Fr. Juan Carlos officiating. Interment will follow at Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, NM. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Ruben was born December 10, 1952 in Carlsbad, NM. He married the love of his life on July 12, 1975. Ruben served in the Army in 1972 and then the Army National Guard. Ruben worked in the potash mines for many years. In more recent years, he worked as a carpenter in remodeling. Ruben loved music and dancing. He also enjoyed collecting southwest and native décor. Ruben was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Salvador Carrasco; mother, Isabel Galvan Calanche; stepfather, Pascual Calanche; brothers: Diosdado G. Jaure, Francisco G. Jaure; sisters: Juanita C. Duran and Melissa Carrasco.

Survivors are his daughters: Monica Marie Galvan Zubiate and husband, Joel, Christine Annette Galvan; sons: Ruben Aragon Galvan, Jr. and wife, Rachel, Robby Joe Galvan; grandchildren: Rosekeanna, Samantha, Haley, Aolani, Monica, Demetrise, Isaac, Xoquin, Aliah, Thomas, Aviana, Jayda, Daliah; mother to his children, Margarita Aragon; 7 great-grandchildren; best friend, Louisa Alvarado; siblings: Joe L. Carrasco and wife, Catherine, Ricky Galvan and wife, Susie, Martha Galvan and Johnny Dorado, Leslie Carrasco and wife, Maria, Regina Hernandez and husband, Raul, four-legged friends, Coffee and Creamer, and numerous nieces and nephews.
