Roger L. Knutsson, Jr.

 

Roger L. Knutsson, Jr., 94, of Carlsbad, NM passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at home with his family. Roger was born on April 1, 1929, in Rockford, IL to Roger and Elizabeth Knutsson.

 

Cremation has taken place, and there will be no services held at this time. Interment will take place at the Carlsbad Cemetery Columbarium in Carlsbad, NM. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

 

Roger was raised in Rockford and spent his summers in Estes Park, Colorado, riding horses and camping in the mountains. Roger attended Culver Military Academy and was captain of the Black Horse troop his senior year. He graduated from the Academy in 1946. He went on to become the owner and operator of the family business called The Rockford Illustrating Company. They specialized in photo engraving, commercial photography, electro typing, and commercial illustrations. Roger was a member of the Rockford BPOE and the Elks Lodge #1558.  As technology progressed and photo engraving was replaced by more modern methods, Roger relocated to Albuquerque and started a successful career in real estate.  Upon retiring from real estate, he relocated to Carlsbad.

 

Roger was preceded in death by his father, Roger L. Knutsson, Sr.; mother, Elizabeth (Howell) Knutsson; sister, Elizabeth Hughes, and Bruce, his younger son.

 

Roger is survived by his wife, Patricia Knutsson; a son, John Knutsson and his wife, Connie, of Birmingham, AL; four grandchildren; and several extended family members and friends.

 

The family would like to thank the staff and nurses from Lakeview Christian Hospice Care and the ladies who provided loving care over the last few years – Cecilia, Lucy, Santos, Amanda, Sulema, Janie.
