Roger Neil Harris, 73 of Carlsbad, NM passed away peacefully on May 27, 2026 at his son’s house with his children by his side.
He was born on March 13, 1953 in Paducah, TX to Earnest and Lometa Harris. After graduating from Carlsbad High School he went on to a fulfilling career as an underground electrician for various mines and retired after 40 plus years.
Roger was known for his passion for fishing, hunting, camping, and being outdoors with his family. He also enjoyed watching the Carlsbad Caveman Football and Cavegirl Softball games. He also loved watching college softball, specifically his favorite team Texas Tech. He was a hard worker and the kind of man who would help anyone.
He is survived by his three children, Lena Ritchie and Leon, Robby Harris and Tera, and Charity Bock and Justin; grandchildren Tania Walker, Makiah Allen, Jake Johnson, Autumn Harris, Brayson Bock, Lynzie Bock, and Logan Bock; great grandchildren Kaiser Jordan, Athena Bond, Xander Johnson, Aleesi Roberts, and Alaska Allen; and numerous brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Earnest and Lometa Harris, grandson Alex Jordan, Skeet Chadwick Harris, and great grandson Zaydon Allen; and siblings Ernestine, Edward, Charles Wayne, Hazel, and Rosie.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM -7:00 PM, Sunday, May 31, 2026 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral service is scheduled for 5:00 PM, Monday, June 1, 2026 at Calvary Assembly of God with Pastor Josh Hedrick officiating. Reception to follow. To honor his wishes, cremation will take place and his children will spread his ashes in his favorite place, the Sacramento Mountains. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
