Roberto G. Melendrez

Roberto G. Melendrez, 77, of W. Tansill Street, Carlsbad, NM, passed away September 15, 2025 at UNM Hospital, Albuquerque, NM. Visitation will be 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM, Wednesday, September 24, 2025 followed by a vigil at 6:00 PM at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 11:00 AM, Thursday, September 25, 2025 at San Jose Catholic Church with Fr. Juan Carlos Ramirez officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, NM. Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard will provide military honors.

Roberto was born October 22, 1947, in Carlsbad, NM to Roberto and Elidia (Gonzalez) Melendrez. He served two tours in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Roberto worked for Landsun Homes for 21 years in the maintenance department. He volunteered over four years at Cat’s Meow. Roberto enjoyed fishing with his friends, LeRoy and Jeremiah. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. Roberto was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rosemarie Martinez; granddaughter, Veanka Gonzalez; brother, Bobby Melendrez; sisters: Nila Reinhart and Rosemary Alvarez, and nephew Ryan Melendrez.

Survivors are his children: Annabelle Hernandez, Robert “Rico” Melendrez, Leah Marie Melendrez, and Randy Lee Melendrez; 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; sisters: Senida Madrid, Ida Melendrez, Elsa Chavez, Erma Melendrez, and Patsy Brown, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Jason Hernandez, Michael Nickles, Jason Marrujo, LeRoy Reinhart, Jeremiah Lopez, and LeRoy Reinhart, III.
