Robert T. Madrid was born on July 6, 1953, in Carlsbad, New Mexico, to Alicia T. Madrid and Manuel G. Madrid. From the very beginning, Robert lived a life marked by strength, determination, and an unwavering love for his family. He carried these qualities with him through every season of his life and left a legacy that will continue to inspire those who knew and loved him.
Robert married his childhood sweetheart, Rosaline R. Madrid, on September 6, 1975. Together, they created a beautiful life rooted in unconditional love. Their love story was one built on devotion, loyalty, and partnership. They spend their lives side by side, sharing every moment, every challenge, and every joy together. He truly cherished the life they had built and the family they created, and there was nowhere he would have rather been than by her side.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army for several years before beginning a long and successful career at Southwest, where he worked as a Project Manager for 35 years. Robert was known for his meticulous work ethic, organization, and commitment to excellence in everything he did.
In his younger years, Robert participated in color guard in high school, showing early signs of his discipline and passion. He was a true tinkerer at heart and loved working with his hands. Whether he was refurbishing tools, fixing something broken, or starting a new project, he approached every task with care and precision. He was a devoted tool collector and took great pride in restoring items regardless of their condition. He never gave up on anything or anyone.
Robert loved to grill and garden, finding joy in the simple moments of life. He was selfless, thoughtful, and always wanted the very best for his sons and took great pride in the people they became. His love extended deeply to his grandchildren, whom he spoiled endlessly and cherished with his whole heart. He had a special gift for making friends with anyone; he could truly “make friends with a rock.”
He shared a special bond with his nephew, Victor, who was like a son to him; he was his “sidekick”. They had an unbreakable connection. Robert also cherished his friendship with his best friend, Steve Hall. They spoke almost every day, shared laughs, stories, and a lifelong friendship that meant the world to him.
He found peace in his daily scriptures, using that quiet time for reflection, guidance, and strength. It was a moment he set aside to center himself, express gratitude, and prepare his heart for each day. Those moments shaped his patience, his kindness, and the steady way he showed up for the people he loved.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alicia and Manuel Madrid, and his brothers Samuel Madrid, Tony Madrid, Orlando Madrid, and Timothy Madrid.
Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Rosaline Madrid; his sons Daniel Madrid and wife Valeria, and son Stephen Madrid and wife Shena; his grandchildren Joslyn, Deandra, and Roman; his great-grandson Kaiden; his brothers Henry Madrid and wife Melissa, and Michael Madrid and wife Patsy; and his sisters-in-law Maria Madrid and Elisa Madrid, along with numerous extended family members and dear friends who will miss him deeply.
Robert Madrid was more than a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather; he was a pillar of strength, a man of faith, a devoted servant to his family, and a light in the lives of all who knew him. His legacy of love, hard work, and strength will live on forever in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Madrid, Stephen Madrid, Roman Madrid, Henry Madrid, Michael T. Madrid, Angel Madrid, Michael A. Madrid, and Theron Kirby.
