Robert Charles Yeager, affectionately known as "Bob," passed away peacefully on January 10, 2026, at the age of 78.
Bob was born on November 26, 1947, in Grand Prairie, Texas. He grew up in West Texas and was a proud graduate of Brownfield High School, class of 1967. Shortly after graduation, on August 11, 1967, Bob married the love of his life, Caroline Crutcher, their bond was the cornerstone of his life; for over 58 years Bob remained completely devoted to Caroline. Their marriage was a true partnership, built on a foundation of deep love, mutual respect, and a shared sense of adventure that only grew stronger with each passing decade.
A man of immense courage and patriotism, Bob answered the call of duty during the early years of his marriage, serving in the United States Army from October 1968 to June 1970. A brave veteran of the Vietnam War, Bob was awarded the Purple Heart for his sacrifice and gallantry in action. While he was serving his country, his family grew with the birth of his daughter, Tonya Yeager, in May 1969.
Bob was a man who truly knew how to enjoy life’s simple and grand moments alike. Above all else, he cherished time spent with his wife, his family, as well as his many friends. Bob had a rare gift for humor; he loved nothing more than making people laugh, and his quick wit and infectious spirit could brighten any room. This warmth made him a magnet for life-long friendships. For Bob, a friend wasn’t just someone to pass the time with, they were family you
chose for yourself. He didn’t just maintain friendships; he invested in them with a loyalty that was incomparable. The laughter shared between him and his friends was a constant, defining feature of their bond. These moments of genuine joy were often sparked by inside jokes, recalling memories or simply the pleasure of each other’s company.
While he was a loyal friend, Bob's greatest role was a constant, supportive presence in his wife's life all the way down to his great grandchildren, never missing an opportunity to share a story or a lesson. They brought a special sparkle to his eye, and he cherished every moment spent passing down the family legacy to the newest generation.
Whether he was out golfing, fishing, embarking on new adventures through travel, or simply relaxing with a cold beer or a fine scotch, Bob’s presence brought warmth and joy to every gathering. He has finally found his permanent tee time, where the sun never sets, the greens are perfect, and the beer is always cold. Rest easy, Bob. You made the world a whole lot brighter while you were here.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents: Jim and Gene Yeager and sister-in-law, Susie Yeager.
