Robert A. Soules, Sr.

Robert “Bobby” Alton Soules Sr. ,83, passed away on April 14, 2026 at his home in Carlsbad, New Mexico.

Bobby was born in Dallas, Texas on February 13, 1943 to C.W. “Red” and Susie Soules. He was the second of eight children.

He moved to Carlsbad in 1959 to work in the oilfield where he met the mother of his children, Patricia “Patsy” Anne Trivitt. After her passing, Bobby took on a second job at Kerr-McGee Potash mines to support his 5 boys. In 1975, he got remarried to schoolteacher Carlanne Jesse Johnson at her parent’s home in Cisco, Texas. They opened B&C Recycling and ran the business until selling it to their son Charles in 1996. The two remained married until Carlanne’s death in 2007.

 Bobby was an active member of The Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ, and was always there to greet you with a VERY crooked smile and a lifesaver mint. He could tell you more about guns and cars than just about any handbook you could find. He was an avid collector of both, but had a love for motorcycles in particular. He even bought a motorcycle with a sidecar so “I can take my little dogs with me”. The little dogs being C.C. and Lucy both of whom he spoiled to no end. He never met a stranger and every one of his family members has lost count how many times they’ve heard “Oh you must be Bobby’s kin!” He was loved deeply and will be missed dearly by everyone who knew him.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Patsy, his wife Carlanne, his brother Jimmy, his sister Betty, and his son Charles.

He is survived by his brothers, Freddy and Charles “Bud”; his sisters, Mary Jo, Carolyn, and Trisha Anne; children: Robert (Stacy), Richard, David, and Larry (Cheryl); his grandchildren: Patricia, Dusty, Krysta, Brian, Derek, Susan, Michael, Alicia, David Jr., Megan, Carla, and Doug, along with 15 great-grandchildren; countless cousins, church family, and friends.

Visitation will be held 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 AM, Thursday, April 23, 2026 at Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ with Pastor Michael Bingham. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, NM. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is charge of the arrangements.
