Robert "Blackie" Sparks of Carlsbad, NM, passed away Sunday, February 4, 2024 in Carlsbad.  Robert was born August 6, 1939 in Ionia, Michigan.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of life will take place at 5:00 PM, Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at the Stevens Inn Restaurant.

Robert was preceded in death by his father, Alden; mother, Esther, and son, Steve.

Robert is survived by wife of 50 years, Irma sparks of Carlsbad, NM; sister, Linda of Michigan; children: Robert Hathorne of Carlsbad, Cheryl Langley of Illinois, Karen Wilhite of Carlsbad, and Stephene Reese and husband, David of Carlsbad; 8 grandchildren; niece, Nettie and numerous great-grandchildren and other extended family.
