Robert Baldridge, 62, of Carlsbad, NM passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2024. Robert was born on September 15, 1961, in Carlsbad, NM to Allan and Jo Ann Baldridge.

Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service is scheduled for 4:00 PM Friday, August 2, 2024, at the Pecos River Village Conference Center at 711 Muscatel Ave. with Pastor Andy Weisner officiating. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

As a child, Robert entertained family and friends with his curiosity, imagination and storytelling. He had a great sense of humor that followed him through all aspects of life that made him the man we knew and love. Robert was very successful in both football and baseball. His success on the baseball field led him to being drafted out of high school. After multiple injuries, he moved onto surveying that allowed him to see the country. Ultimately, he returned home to Carlsbad to play music with his friends and follow his father’s footsteps in a career of potash mining. He started as a mine operator working his way up the ladder to Executive Vice President of Operations at Intrepid Potash. While working at Intrepid he held many executive board roles within the community, making lifelong impacts through our community and state.

Robert was smart, selfless, humble, sensitive, loving, loyal, honest, hardworking and a faithful man who encouraged and led others to find faith. One of the many ways he walked out his faith was offering forgiveness to those who offended him. Robert was passionate about all the things important to him, especially his grandchildren, children, family, friends, music and mining. In addition to his demanding job and community service, he was also a part time caretaker to his aging parents. He loved to help and mentor others and always provided the right words for the circumstance, even if it was, I don’t know, but I’ll get back to you. Robert enjoyed passing his knowledge he had learned from his mother and father to others. He learned how to cook and sew from his mother. His passion for cooking, led into the curiosity and creativity of new dishes to serve his family and friends. He took an idea or a spark of information and ran with it to create a meal. He was his toughest critique and never ceased until the recipe was perfectly crafted. He found pleasure in hunting, precision woodworking, all things technical and skeet shooting where he accomplished his goal of becoming a state champion and competed in world championships. He loved creating projects, the continuous ways to make improvements, and the never-ending spark of new ideas. There was never a moment where he didn’t have an idea about something he wanted to improve or build for his family.

Robert was preceded in death by his father, Allan Baldridge; and mother, Jo Ann (Compton) Baldridge.

Robert is survived by his two children: Clint Baldridge of Gainesville, TX; and Sarah Owens and husband, Blake of Carlsbad, NM; four grandchildren: Noah Baldridge, Luka Baldrige, Harper Owens, and Quinn Owens; three siblings: Sharon Chevalier of Beaumont, CA; Teresa Bernard of Santa Ynez, CA; and Rick Baldridge and wife, Donna of Del Mar, CA; and several nieces and nephews.
