Ricardo Murillo, Jr.

Ricardo Murillo, Jr., 52, of Carlsbad, New Mexico passed away on Monday, January 17, 2022. Ricardo was born on January 26, 1969, in Phoenix, Arizona to Ricardo Murillo, Sr. and Gloria (Gabaldon) Martinez.

Cremation has taken place, and a vigil is scheduled for 6:00 PM Monday, January 24, 2022, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel. A Funeral Liturgy outside of the Mass is scheduled for 10:00 AM Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at San Jose Catholic Church with Deacon Tony Dominguez officiating. Interment will take place at Loving Cemetery in Loving, NM. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of making arrangements.

Growing up, Ricardo was very athletic and played on his high school varsity football team at Carl Hayden High School. His love of football carried over to him being an avid fan of the Washington Redskins. He enjoyed going fishing, dancing to good music, cooking amazing food, and cars. Ricardo had a passion about him, that anything he did, he did 110 percent, always going above and beyond. Most of all, he loved his family dearly. He cared for them, and was their protector. Together they made memories to last a life time.

Ricardo was preceded in death by his father, Ricardo Murillo, Sr.; and brother, Rudy Murillo.

Ricardo is survived by his two sons: Richard Murillo, III of Phoenix, AZ; and Nicolas Murillo of Phoenix, AZ; mother, Gloria Martinez and husband, Israel of Wittman, AZ; two sisters: Sylvia Munoz of Carlsbad, NM; and Carla Martinez of Buckeye, AZ; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Pallbearers will be: Victor Munoz and Daniel Munoz. Honorary pallbearers will be: Thomas Munoz, Santiago Gabaldon “Tio Jay”, Rudy Murillo, Jerardo Gabaldon, Sylvia Munoz, Paul Gonzalez, Gloria Hernandez, and Rick Melendrez.
