Reyner D. Ybaben, 87, of Loving, passed away on Sunday, December 24, 2023 at home surrounded by his family.

Reyner was born June 25, 1936 to Florencio and Lola Ybaben. He grew up in Loving where he played baseball in school.  After graduation he moved to California where he married the love of his life, Elva Palomino.  Shortly after, Reyner joined the United States Army where he faithfully and honorably served his country during the Korean War.

When he returned, they settled in Los Angeles for 12 years, before returning to Loving to be closer to family and friends.  Reyner worked for IMC Potash until he retired.

Reyner loved his little Village of Loving.  He served as a village council member and was very proud to help get the Loving Health Center built.

He enjoyed cruising the streets every morning and evening just to see everyone out and about.  Reyner will be dearly missed and never forgotten.

Reyner was preceded in death by his wife, Elva P. Ybaben; his mother, Lola Duran Salcido; stepfather, Marcelino Salcido; father, Florencio Ybaben and brother, Erminio (Chino) Ybaben.

Reyner is survived by his three children: Michael Ybaben and wife, Rhonda of Odessa, Texas, Becky Ybaben of Loving, NM and Patti Dies of Loving, NM; eight grandchildren: Erica Peterson, Jessica Grogen, David Ybaben, Christina Ybaben, Joseph Liddell, Timothy Liddell, Amanda Liddell and Danielle Celaya; eighteen great-grandchildren; sisters: Eva Quinonez of Hobbs, Rose Ybaben Burciaga of Seminole, Texas, Lupe Ybaben Macias of Broomfield, Colorado and brother, Reynaldo Ybaben of San Antonio, Texas.

Cremation has taken place and there are no services scheduled at this time.
