Raymond C. Morton, 94, of Carlsbad, New Mexico peacefully passed away on Wednesday, July 7, 2021, with his loving wife of 73 years by his side. Raymond was born on September 17, 1926, in South Sioux City, Nebraska to Val L. Morton and Lila Aileen (James) Morton.

Cremation has taken place, with no visitation. The family will have a private memorial service at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 17, 2021. Services will be live streamed and may be viewed by following the link below. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Raymond grew up in South Sioux City, NE and Sioux City, IA, and after graduating from high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He faithfully served for several years and was a WWII veteran. Raymond met the love of his life, Naomi Meshberger, and they got married on March 12, 1948. They then moved to California where they raised their two daughters. He continued working for the Navy as a missile engineer, specializing in radar and guidance systems. Raymond had a brilliant mind, and was always coming up with inventive ideas. Above all, he was a man of God. Coming from a family of faith, Raymond and Naomi raised their children and grandchildren in the Church of the Nazarene. He will be dearly missed and never forgotten.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters: Linda Gilliland and Beth Kneeland; great-grandson, Timothy Ray Kneeland; brothers: John and William; and two sisters: Doris and Julie.

Raymond is survived by his wife, Naomi Morton of Carlsbad, NM; grandson, Marc Jeremy Kneeland and wife, Noni of Carlsbad, NM; granddaughter, Christa Reese and husband, Chad of Terre Haute, IN; granddaughter, Cathy Kneeland of Midland, TX; granddaughter, Cara Kime and husband, Nathan of Terre Haute, IN; fifteen great-grandchildren.
