Patricia Ann McQueen Anguish, 84, passed away Sunday, June 28, 2026, surrounded by family at Lakeview Christian Home. A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at Lakeview Christian Home.
Patricia was born on July 27, 1941, in Bakersfield, California to Eugene McQueen and Pauline Carter. In high school she learned to play the accordion, joined a group and traveled across the state to perform.
She graduated high school in 1959, and married Albert Anguish a few months later. Once married she joined her husband traveling all over the world. As a Navy wife, she lived in Turkey, Japan, Alaska, and a few other states during her husband’s Naval career. Together they had 4 daughters.
Pat made the difficult decision to return to California to raise her daughters with the help of her parents and extended family. Pat worked at First Presbyterian Church for 29 years as their church secretary. After her retirement she took on the role of caregiver to her mother until her death in 2005. She later became the caregiver of her aunt Vicky until her death.
Pat had a nurturing spirit. Her kind heart and her infectious smile made her everyone’s friend.
Pat moved to Carlsbad, New Mexico in 2022, to be cared for by her daughter. After a brief illness, she went to live at Lakeview Christian Home. Once Pat moved into Lakeview, she began to enjoy life again. She participated in many of the activities and discovered her love of Bingo.
Pat is preceded in death by her parents; Gene and Pauline, her brother Tom and her aunt Vicky.
She is survived by her sister Nancy Shroyer, her daughters Debra Beneker (husband Phil), Kara McGuire (husband Mike), Rebecca Legoretta, and Erin Fisher (husband Brian), 12 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff at Lakeview for taking such great care of our mother. She truly felt at home there.
