Norma J. Buendia

Norma J. Buendia, 58, of Livingston Road, Carlsbad, NM, passed away July 20, 2021, at Lovelace Hospital, Roswell, NM. Norma was born January 1, 1963, in Carlsbad, New Mexico.

Visitation will be 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM, Sunday, July 25, 2021, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Loving, NM followed by a vigil at 6:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, July 26, 2021, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church with Fr. Hruday Kumar Pasala officiating. Interment will follow in Loving Cemetery, Loving, NM.

Pallbearers will be: Daniel Buendia, Jr., Joshua Buendia, Ryan Buendia, Ryan Buendia, Jr., Edward Calderon, Jr., Justin Calderon, Jhyress Soto, and Omar Soto.

Norma was a beloved mother, loving nana to her grandchildren, caring daughter to a wonderful mother, a crazy auntie to her nieces and nephews and a sister like no other. She was full of life and she didn’t let the little things put her light out. She had a contagious laugh and a beautiful smile. When you thought of her you would remember her loud personality and loving heart. Family time was big to her, she loved having everyone over for holidays and cookouts. Her heart was filled with gold and always willing to help anyone at any time. Her beautiful, caring soul was always ready to lend an ear to listen and a shoulder to cry on, her advice was pure and loving. Her past time was going to her mom’s house in Loving and making her tortillas and also making her mom yell. She loved giving her mom a hard time, but she did it with love and lots of laughs. Now let’s not forget her fur babies. She loved taking them for rides and ice cream, those dogs could do no wrong. Norma worked hard all her life to give her family a better life. Even when she would come home from a long day at work it didn’t faze her to give a joke and a laugh. Norma loved sharing stories of how her and her sister Noreen would steal their mother’s car and cruise throughout Loving, barley being able to see over the dash. Their favorite story was when Norma wrecked the car at the gas station and they took off like The Dukes of Hazard. She taught her family to love and care and her heart was full of crazy humor that will be carried on in her children and those to come. She showed her kids everything except how to live without her.

Norma was preceded in death by her father, Enrique Rodriguez; mother, Mayra De Los Santos; daughter, Bertha Buendia; and brother-in-law, Edward Calderon, Sr.

Survivors are her husband, Danny Buendia of Carlsbad, NM; children: Brenda Buendia of Carlsbad, NM, Daniel Buendia, Jr. of Carlsbad, NM, Ryan Buendia and wife, Michelle of Artesia, NM and Destiny Soto and husband, Omar of Carlsbad, NM; grandchildren: Janay Buendia, Ryan Buendia, Jr. and Jhyress Soto; sister, Noreen Calderon of Loving, NM; brother, Enrique Rodriguez of Loving, NM and several nieces and nephews.
