Nora R. Yañez

Nora R. Yañez, 83, of Carlsbad, NM passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at Lakeview Christian Home. Nora was born on September 12, 1940, in Alpine, TX to Juan and Carlota Rodriguez.

Visitation is scheduled from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home, followed by a vigil at 6:00 PM. A Mass of Christina Burial is scheduled at 10:00 AM Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at San Jose Catholic Church with Fr. Juan Carlos Ramirez officiating. Interment will take place at Santa Catarina Cemetery in Carlsbad, NM.

Nora moved to Carlsbad in 1952, and then married the love of her life, Francisco Yañez on July 28, 1960. Nora was a faithful member of San Jose Catholic Church. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother and loved to have everyone over and to cook for family gatherings. She will be dearly missed and never forgotten.

Nora was preceded in death by her father, Juan Rodriguez; mother, Carlota (Vega) Rodriguez; husband, Francisco D. Yañez; son, Paul Anthony Yañez; and seven siblings: Neto Rodriguez, Juan Rodriguez, Jr.; Dario Rodriguez, Mary Lou Ramirez; Fernado Rodriguez, Anita Scholl, and Linda Rena.

Nora is survived by her four children: Vickie Yañez of Carlsbad, NM; Lisa Granger and husband, Jody of Carlsbad, NM; Frank Yañez of Carlsbad, NM; and Danny Yañez of Carlsbad, NM; eight grandchildren: Chelsie Sachez (Manuel), Nico Barrera, Dylan Barrera (Hayden), SaVana Salcido (Ryan), Mary Jo Granger, LiaNora Johnson (Parker), Joe Rio Granger, and Anthony Galvan (Kathrynn); sixteen great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
