Nicoles Jon Barrera

Nicoles “Nico” Jon Barrera, 34, of Carlsbad, NM passed away Thursday, July 10, 2025 in Corpus Christi, TX. Cremation will take place and a memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 at Word of Life Church with Pastor Jason Shirley officiating. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Nico was born August 13, 1990 in Carlsbad, NM to Vickie Yanez and Johnny Barrera. He graduated from CHS in 2008. Nico ran cross country for Colby Community College in Kansas where he received All-American Honors for his performance. He worked construction as electrician in commercial and in the oil field. Nico enjoyed fishing, hunting and being outdoors. He loved cooking out and spending time with his family.

Survivors are his mother, Vickie Yanez; father, Johnny Barrera; siblings: Chelsie Sanchez and husband, Manuel, Dylan Barrera and wife, Hayden; daughter, Sophie Barrera and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
