Nicholas Andres Lucero, 42, passed away Saturday, May 23, 2026 at Carlsbad Medical Center, Carlsbad, NM.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM -7:00 PM, Friday, May 29, 2026 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM, Saturday, May 30, 2026 at Oasis Church. Cremation will take place following the service. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Nicholas was born on October 16, 1983 in Albuquerque, NM, to Charlie and Charlene (Perea) Lucero. He graduated from Rio Grande High School in 2002. He worked as a Patrol Supervisor for the New Mexico Department of Transportation for 10 years before serving as a regional manager for TorcSill for eight years. Nicholas had a strong work ethic and gave his all in everything he did. He was family-oriented and loved spending time outdoors. Nicholas never met a stranger. He was a natural people person with a great sense of humor and always kept those around him laughing. He was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and, above all else, was incredibly proud of his children, whom he adored deeply.
Nicholas is survived by his wife, Kara Lucero; children: Audrey Perez, Andy Lucero, Brodee Hedgecock, Liam Lucero, Coy Lucero, and Blaine Lucero; parents, Charlie and Charlene Lucero; brother, Carl Lucero and wife, Marcie; sister, Charlize Lucero; nieces: Samantha Lucero, Bentlee Worth, and Kessa Worth; nephews: Carl Anthony Lucero, III, Christopher Aaron Lucero, Coors Worth, and Brooks Worth; mother- in-law, Diane Worth; two brothers-in-law, Jacob Worth and Matt Worth; goddaughter, Wynonna Patton.
