Nelda D. Doyal, 79, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2026, at her home in Carlsbad, New Mexico.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at the Carlsbad Cemetery Gazebo in Carlsbad, NM. Interment will follow at the Carlsbad Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Denton-Wood Funeral Home.
Nelda was born on October 10, 1946, in Roswell, New Mexico, to Clifford and Clara “Opal” (Conner) Allensworth. She was raised in Roswell where she graduated from Roswell High School before meeting and marrying the love of her life, John Doyal, on July 21, 1970.
Nelda was a devoted mother who raised four children of her own and lovingly cared for many others through babysitting out of the family home. She was a hardworking, creative, and dedicated woman who took great pride in everything she did. She owned and operated Nelda’s Frames Unlimited and also drove a school bus for many years, where she became a familiar and caring presence to many families in her community.
She had a heart for serving others and was deeply involved in her church, where she taught Sunday School and guided youth with patience and kindness. She also gave her time to organizations including Beta Sigma Phi, the Boy Scouts of America, and P.E.O., always willing to help and support those around her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Doyal; her brothers, Billy, Tom, Jerry, Bob, and John Allensworth; and her sister, Ruth Dickenson.
Nelda is survived by her children, Lee Doyal (Brandy), Shawn Doyal (Stacy), John J. Doyal, and Jennifer Lemon; and her grandchildren: Stephanie Doyal, Hunter Doyal, D.J. Whitlock, Brandon Bourgeois, Bryan Bourgeois, Hailey Hernandez, Autumn Hernandez, Carlie Hernandez, Damian Hernandez, Dustin Doyal, Courtney Mack (Josh), Clay Lemon (Adrianna). She is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
To her family, she was known simply and lovingly as Mom, Nana, Gaggy, and more recently, Mother.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
