Miguel (Michael) Gutierrez Lopez was born on June 6, 1973. He passed away on May 10, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Michael lived his life with kindness, strength, humor, and a positive outlook that touched everyone who knew him.
Visitation will be from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM, Monday, May 25, 2026 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 9:30 AM, Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at Our Lady of Grace Parish followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM, with Fr. Cosmas Okafor officiating. Interment will follow in Loving Cemetery, Loving, NM. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Michael was born to Eusebio D. Lopez and Aurelia “Laura” Martinez, who preceded him in death in 2018. He was also preceded in death by his siblings Eddie Martinez in 2018, Diana Martinez Tidwell in 2003, Pricilla Martinez in 1968, and sister-in-law Florence Martinez 2014.
Michael was a proud graduate of Carlsbad High School, Class of 1991. During his school years, he was a member of the high school band, where his love for music truly flourished. Michael had a deep passion for rock and roll music and was known as an excellent guitar and bass player. Whether listening to music or playing alongside friends and family, music brought him great joy throughout his life.
Michael was also a devoted fan of the Denver Broncos and rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his team.
Michael was a dedicated and hardworking employee throughout his life. He spent many years as a manager at Taco Bell, where he built lasting friendships and earned the respect of both coworkers and customers. Most recently, he was employed at Blake's Lotaburger. No matter where he worked, Michael was known for his strong work ethic, positive attitude, and ability to build meaningful relationships with those around him. He made many friends throughout the years and shared a good working relationship with everyone he met.
Above all else, Michael loved his family deeply. He treasured every moment spent with them and found his greatest happiness in being surrounded by his children, grandchildren, siblings, and loved ones.
He is survived by his daughter, Alea Lopez and boyfriend, Ramon Ortega; daughter, Heavenlee Allen and husband, Mark; son, Jaden Vincent; daughter, Emily Lopez; daughter, Makayla Lopez. Michael also leaves behind 13 beloved grandchildren who brought endless pride and joy to his life. He is also survived by his loving brothers Abel Martinez, Alberto and wife Zelma Lopez, Carlos and wife Teri Lopez, as well as his brother-in-law Leonard Tidwell.
Michael was known as a hard worker who approached life with determination and optimism. No matter the circumstance, he carried himself with a positive spirit and a caring heart that will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
His memory will forever live on in the music he played, the laughter he shared, and the love he gave so freely to his family and friends.
