Michael Brannon Walker

Michael Brannon Walker, 49, of Carlsbad, NM, passed away on March 17, 2026, surrounded by his family.

He was born on November 7 in El Paso, TX, to James and Cathy Walker. Brannon was a wildland firefighter for several years and worked in the construction and oil field industries. He was a creative and generous soul who found joy in the simple things. He loved rock hunting, playing darts, and finding broken items he could bring back to life. Whether it was something he crafted, like a special rock, or anything he could get his hands on, he was always giving pieces of his world to those he loved.

Brannon had a deep love for his family, which he showed through his kindness, thoughtfulness, and the little gifts he shared. He will be remembered for his creativity, generosity, stubbornness, love for food, ESPECIALLY ice cream, and his sense of humor.  He faced personal struggles that at times kept him from his family, but he was always loved and remained an important part of their lives.

Brannon is survived by his son, Tristan Walker (wife, Sarah), and daughters Ember and Macy; his mother, Cathy Walker (partner, Terry Roper); his sisters, Tiffney Burkham (husband, Charlie Burkham) and Fawn Walker; his grandchildren, Jonas and Livvy Walker; his nieces and nephews, Mason Estrada (wife, Johanna), Mattney Hestand (husband, Riley), Kilea Estrada, Ezra Bland, Josh Walker, and Jasmine Walker; and his close friend, Tanya Willis.

He is preceded in death by his father, Jim Walker, and his grandparents, R.T. Selmon, Elizabeth Scott, Verna Walker, and James William Walker.

Brannon will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A service to celebrate Brannon’s life will be held on Monday, March 23, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel.
