Melissa Swader

Melissa Swader, 48, of W. Rose Street, Carlsbad, NM, passed away January 1, 2026 in El Paso, TX.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM, Thursday, February 5, 2026 at Landmark Baptist Church with Pastor Destry McDonald officiating. Visitation will be at 10:00 AM, Landmark Baptist Church, one hour before service. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, NM. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Melissa was born September 23, 1977 in Anaheim, CA to Chris and Mary (Carpenter) Pennell. Later she met the love of her life, Joey Swader, in 2002. They married in 2006 and were happily married for 24 years.

Melissa was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Jennifer Nalty.

Survivors are her husband, Joey Swader; children, Katelyn Phillips, Eryn Phillips, Aspen Swader, Logan McCormick and Aiden McCormick; sisters: Jodi McKinnis, Stephanie Nalty; her pride and joy, grandson, Azariah.
