Maxine Slusher

Maxine Slusher, 64, of Praline Drive, Carlsbad, NM, passed away Friday, October 3, 2025 at Carlsbad Medical Center. Visitation will be 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Cremation will take place following the visitation.

Maxine was born on June 18, 1961 in Denver, Colorado to William and Ruby (Hargis) Slusher. She graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1979. Maxine received a degree in Criminology/Psychology from ENMU-Roswell. She was a talented floral arranger and loved her dogs. Maxine was an avid motorcycle enthusiast. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, and sister, Pamela Boston.

Survivors are her sons: James Slusher and Rudy Richardson; grandchildren: Dallas Balderrama, Julianna Caldwell, James Slusher, Jr., Isabell Slusher, and Damian Slusher; great-grandchildren: Ryker Balderrama, Nevaeh Balderrama, and Oliver Caldwell; sisters: Marlene Bynum and husband, Stan, Donna Cline; brother, Kelly Christesson; nephew: William Boston, and numerous nieces and nephews.
