Mauro G. Lara

Mauro Granado Lara, affectionately known as Toro, 63, of Loving, entered into eternal life on October 7, 2022.  He was born in Loving, NM to Dolores (Granado) Lara and Federico Lara on November 10, 1958.

Mauro was a man of many talents.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting and cooking his famous ribs and asado for his family.  Mauro had many nicknames for the people he loved, and he never missed an opportunity to give his family a hard time about the Dallas Cowboys.  He was an avid Raiders fan and never missed a chance to watch them play.

Mauro worked on various drilling rigs for over 35 years.  He also worked for many years as a custodian for Loving Municipal Schools next to his long-time friend, Serapio Parraz.  Mauro was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church where he helped keep it beautiful.

Mauro married his beautiful wife, Virginia Bustamante on August 23, 2008.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Antonio and Guadalupe Lara; sisters: Rita and Amelia Lara.

Mauro is survived by his wife, Virginia; daughters: Tori and Jennifer; son, Jesse; grandchildren: Audrey, Alexis, Angelisa, Baby Jesse, Anaya, Aaliyah, Lucas and Nevin; great-granddaughter, Bellani; siblings: Manuel Lara, Francis Hernandez and husband, Sotero, Andrea Parraz and husband, Bobby, Federico Lara and wife, Cruz Elena, Rosario Lara, Margarito Lara and wife, Patsy, Epolito Lara, Maria Lara, Raquel Lara, Lily Pina and husband, Ray, Bill and Elvia Moreno, Gloria Martinez, Leticia Ritters; Goddaughters: Sierra Chavez and Dominique Martinez; Godson, Andres Granado and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Pallbearers will be Alfredo Parraz, III, Kaleb Rodriguez, Manuel Lara, Federico Lara, Epolito Lara, Margarito Lara, Armando (Bird) Molinar, Jeffrey Chavez, Gavino Gutierrez, Jesse Catalan, Ray Pina, Bill Moreno, Jamie Ortiz and Darrell Rivers.  Honorary pallbearers will be Israel Chavez, Sotero Gutierrez and Cornelio Ferretiz and Bobby Parraz.

Visitation will be 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM, Thursday, October 13, 2022 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Loving, followed by a vigil at 6:00 PM.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, October 14, 2022 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church with Fr. Hruday Kumar Pasala officiating.  Interment will follow in Loving Cemetery.
