Obituary Mary Christina DeVargas, 68, of Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2019 in Ft. Worth, Texas. Visitation will be 2:00 PM 5:00 PM, Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A graveside service is scheduled for 2:30 PM, Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at Carlsbad Cemetery with Rev. David W. Rogers officiating. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Mary Christina DeVargas was born a 14-lb baby on October 15, 1950 in Santa Fe, NM to Diego A. and Elvira (Mascarenas) DeVargas. She graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1968 and received a business associates degree from Northern New Mexico in Espanola, NM. Christina worked for Western Airlines as a certified reservation specialist. She later returned to Carlsbad where she worked in real estate. Christina was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Walter DeVargas, James DeVargas; sisters: Isabelle DeVargas, June DeVargas and Linda DeVargas. Survivors are her siblings: Elvira Bowman Walkin, Carolyn Carmichael, Jay DeVargas, Martha Dunn and husband, Alan and Helen DeVargas; nieces and nephews: June Bowman, Geri Dobbs and husband, Terry, Donna Brown, Thomas Reed, Sandra Holden and husband, Justin, Joshua DeVargas, Alan Dunn and wife, Holly and Jason Dunn and wife, Debbie; numerous great-nieces, nephews, one aunt and cousins.
