Marie Geckler

Marie Geckler, 81, of Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away June 15, 2022 in Gainsville, Texas.

Cremation has taken place a memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, June 25, 2022 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Associate Pastor Kevin Pence officiating.  Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery.  

Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Marie Geckler was born May 31, 1941 in Chelyon, West Virginia to Frank Luther Turner and Mabel Virginia Mae (Hall) Turner.

 Marie moved to Texas with her parents at the age of 7. She graduated from Pampa High School in 1959. Marie lived in Hobbs and Dallas while raising her three sons. She married Ronald H. Geckler, June 2, 1979 in Carlsbad, New Mexico where they made their home. Marie owned Marie’s Unique Weddings and Receptions over 20 years and cherished the many friendships and relationships she made over the years. She enjoyed gardening and interior decorating. Marie was a member of First Baptist Church, Epsilon Sigma Alpha and Rebekah’s. Marie was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Ronald H. Geckler; son: Brent Everson; step-son: Dwayne Carl Geckler; granddaughter: Sarah Everson Cunningham; sisters: Helen Hargrove, Ruth Turner and brother: Bruce Turner. Survivors are sons: Carl Everson and wife Belinda and Brian Everson; step-daughter: Joanna Geckler Burns; grandchildren: Dustin Everson and wife, Tina and Ashley Compton and husband, Matt; 10 great-children; sisters: Loretta Krohn and husband, Carl, Mary Longo and Faye Turner and several nieces and nephews.
