Mariano “Nano” A. Mireles was born in Terlingua, Texas on November 26, 1943. He left this earth to be with God on May 30, 2025 at his home surrounded by loved ones.

Mariano married Yolanda Carrasco Ortiz right out of high school on December 12, 1963 in Carlsbad, NM where they built a life together and raised their children.

Mariano’s perfect day was hanging out with his grandchildren in his backyard swimming pool. A proud, self-taught guitarist and keyboard player, “Music is my Life” could be considered his life mantra. Whether it be a family gathering, holiday, or day at the lake his guitar was hanging around his neck ready to break out into a jam session. He used his art to praise our lord for many years as a member and leader of Cora Agua Viva for San Jose Catholic Church. In later years, he joined the band the Bilinguals with his nephew Donnie entertaining many with Tex Mex music.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marciano Mireles and Isidora Acosta Mireles; wife, Yolanda; son, Orlando; brother, Ruben Mireles Sr.

Mariano is survived by: sister, Rita Martinez; daughter, Martha Mireles Soto and husband, Steven; son, Steve “Billy” Mireles and wife, Thelma; grandchildren: Rumika Rodriguez and husband, Chris, Keanu Soto and wife, Sonia, Jacob Mireles (Alexis Montenjano), Emily Parraz (Dakota Owens), Stefan Mireles and wife, Ashley; great-grandchildren: Makaio & Kailani Rodriguez, Sophia Soto, Olivia Armendarez, Zayla Mireles & Windsor Owens; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, godchildren.

The family extends gratitude to his wonderful caregivers who helped us care for him. Thank you also to the Encompass nursing personnel for your compassion and support to our father and family.

Pallbearers will be Keanu Soto, Jacob Mireles, Robert Briceno, Scott Sing, Donnie Martinez, Christopher Rodriguez. Honorary Pallbearer, Stefan Mireles.
