Magdalena "Maggie" A. Lopez

Magdalena “Maggie” A. Lopez, 88, of Radio Blvd., Carlsbad, NM, passed away August 16, 2025 at Lakeview Christian Home. A rosary will be recited at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 11:30 AM at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Gabe Rubio officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, NM. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Maggie was born August 8, 1937 in Carlsbad, NM to Luiz S. and Bernarda (Vasquez) Armendariz. She married Atanacio Lopez September 26, 1954 here in Carlsbad. Maggie worked on the farm in the early years. She worked as a laundress for Lakeview Christian Home and Stevens Inn for many years. Maggie loved singing, reading her Bible, and cooking and was known for always praying for her family, friends, and even people she didn’t know. She absolutely loved candy, especially Milky Ways. Maggie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Atanacio Lopez, Sr.; sons: Danny and Richard Lopez; sisters: Erma Carrasco and Delia Martinez.

Survivors are her children: Terry Ruiz and husband, Tony, Guadalupe Lopez and wife, Helen, Sylvia Carrillo and husband, Margarito, Celia Lujan and husband, Tom, Atanacio Lopez, Jr. and wife, Gail, Jaime Lopez, Christy Archibeque and husband, Max; 24 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; brothers: Adolfo Armendariz, Ruben Armendariz, and Luiz Armendariz, Jr.; sisters: Carmen Martinez, Sulema Gomez, and Emma Gonzalez, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Aaron Ruiz, Lupito Lopez, Celina Ortega, Abel Carrillo, Joseph Lopez, Richard Lopez, Josiah Tavarez, and Atanacio Lopez, III.
