Lydia Salcido, 77, of Plum St., Carlsbad, NM, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2025 at her home surrounded by loving family.

Lydia was born January 17, 1948 in Artesia but was raised, and a lifelong citizen, here in Carlsbad. She was married to the love-of-her-life Nick Salcido in May of 1966, remaining together for almost 50 years before his passing in 2015. Together, they raised four children and stayed active making a difference and serving in their community.
Lydia was a dedicated educator in Carlsbad, impacting students’ lives from adult education down to our elementary schools. She retired from Carlsbad schools but kept busy volunteering her time here and visiting with friends and family across the country. Led by her faith, she was extremely generous and always there when you needed her, exemplifying the words in Proverb 11:25. She adored music and would softly hum to herself throughout the day, a core memory for her children. She is deeply loved and missed.
Lydia is preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas Salcido, Sr., and son, Xavier Salcido.
She is survived by: son, Anthony Salcido and wife Cindy; daughter, Pamela Romero; son, Nicholas Salcido, Jr and wife Jennifer; daughter-in-law, Missy Salcido; siblings, Gloria Vigil, David Franco, Hector Franco, and Francisco Franco; grandchildren: Mason Sarabia, Anthony Salcido, Jr, Andrea Salcido, Michael Lopez, Justin Espino, Gabrielle Salcido, Luc Salcido, Wyatt Spradlin, Charlotte Spradlin, Precious Salcido, Xavier Salcido, Jr, Xachary Salcido, Xander Salcido, Iesha Puckett and 21 great-grandchildren.
