Lura Harris Anderson, 92, of Dogwood Lane, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away December 18, 2009 at Landsun Homes. Visitation will be 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM, Sunday, December 20, 2009 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, December 21, 2009, 2:00 PM, at Hillcrest Baptist Church with Pastor Gerald Harden officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Gardens Memorial Park, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Lura Harris Anderson was born March 6, 1917 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma to Lauta Overton and Mittie Ethel (Branstetter) Love. She finished high school in Mead, Oklahoma. Lura married Clarence Harris on August 12, 1939. They moved to Carlsbad in 1946. She worked as a meat wrapper nearly twenty years. Lura was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church since 1949 where she taught Sunday School in the early years and was involved in the Women's Missionary Union many years. Clarence died in 1974 and she later married Raymond Anderson on December 28, 1982. Lura was an avid bowler and golfer. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence Linden Harris; husband, Earl Anderson; Daughter, Dana Love Blair; son, Gary Linden Harris and several brothers and sisters. Survivors include son-in-law, Phil Blair of California, daughter-in-law, Claudia Harris Stapleton of Ruidoso, NM; step-son, Raymond Davis Anderson, and wife Mindy of Kent, WA; five grandchildren: Tara Blair Souza, Phil Ty Blair, Jennifer Harris, Carol Ann Hitchcock, Randel Wayne Harris; ten great-grandchildren: Jarrett Hitchock, Sheldon Hitchcock, Teegan Hitchcock, Joshua Lanier, Shannon Arden, Cole Arden, Timmy Souza, Tessa Souza, Tiffney Souza, Alecia Blair, Lindon Harris; one great-great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Jerry Hitchcock, Joshua Lanier, Michael Arden, Sheldon Hitchcock, Jarrett Hitchcock and Cole Arden. Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com.
