Lilia Q. Gutierrez

Lilia Q. Gutierrez, 91, of Loving, NM passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2023, in Hobbs, NM. Lilia was born on February 19, 1932, in Loving, NM to Esteban and Guadalupe Quintela.

Visitation is scheduled from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home; followed by a rosary and vigil at 6:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 11:00 AM Thursday, May 11, 2023, at San Jose Catholic Church with Fr. Juan Carlos Ramirez officiating. Burial will take place at the Loving Cemetery in Loving, NM.

Lilia married Moises Gutierrez on April 26, 1947. They had seven children and spent 68 years together until he passed away in 2015.  Lilia’s favorite hobbies included gardening, dancing and singing. She especially loved family gatherings and singing with her sisters. Lilia was known for her lifelong  devotion to her mother. She will be dearly missed and never forgotten.

Lilia was preceded in death by her father, Esteban Quintela; mother, Guadalupe (Duran) Quintela; husband, Moises M. Gutierrez; four grandchildren: Henry Gutierrez Jr., Katrina Gutierrez, Daniel Morales, and Efren Gutierrez; and three sisters: Genoveva Aragon, Juana Garcia, and Carlota Flores.

Lilia is survived by her seven children: Alejandro Gutierrez and wife, Sylvia of Loving, NM; Enrique Gutierrez and wife, Viola of Carlsbad, NM; Daniel Gutierrez and wife, Cindy of Carlsbad, NM; Dorinda Gutierrez of Loving, NM; Erlinda Gutierrez and husband, Paul of Moreno Valley, CA; Javier Gutierrez of Odessa, TX; and Priscilla Hinojos of Carlsbad, NM; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; four siblings: Estevan Quintela and wife, Inez of Carlsbad, NM; Gilbert Quintela and wife, Bessie of Carlsbad NM; Esperanza Lucero of Lakewood, CA; and Mary Aragon of Carlsbad, NM; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the nursing staff at White Sands Healthcare in Hobbs for their tender, patient and loving care of Lilia during her residence there.
