Leslie "Les" Wilkie

Leslie L. Wilkie, 85, of Wyoming Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away December 25, 2009 at Lakeview Christian Home. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 30, 2009 from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, December 31, 2009, 2:00 PM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Terry McKean officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Ceretery, Carlsbad, NM. Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard will provide military honors. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Leslie L. Wilkie was born July 24, 1924 in Crisp, TX to Robert Lee and Donie (Bullock) Wilkie. He served with the U.S. Navy during WWII, being assigned to transporting an Admiral on his boat. Leslie played guitar and sang at the Senior Center, liked to dance, and had numerous interests throughout his long life. Survivors include his wife, Shirley E. Wilkie; sons: James Wilkie and wife, Rosemary of Carslbad, NM, Robert C. Wilkie and wife, Katherine of Apalacian, NY; daughters: Frankie L. Wiseman and husband, Curtis of San Antonio, TX, Sharon D. Martindale and husband, Bill of Cedar Creek, TX, Sonia Shirlene Thimmesch and husband, Chuck of Sheboygan Falls, WI; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Curtis Wiseman, Bill Martindale, Zachary Martindale, Mark Wilkie, Mark Maresko, Chuck Thimmesch.
