Leon Durr, 68, of Ocotillo Canyon Drive, Carlsbad, NM, passed away Saturday, January 6, 2024 at his home.  Visitation will be 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Friday, January 12, 2024 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home.  Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM, Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Howell Scott and Associate Pastor Kevin Pence officiating.  Interment will follow in Sunset Gardens Memorial Park, Carlsbad, NM. 

Leon was born August 22, 1955 in Seminole, Texas to Herbert and Hazel (Wood) Durr.  He graduated from Williams High School in Williams, Arizona.  Leon moved to Carlsbad in 1980 and went to work for Yeager Plumbing.  He soon began work in the potash mines where he worked until retiring in 2018.  Leon met Linda through their children, marrying April 28, 1984 and the wild ride began. He enjoyed singing, camping, hunting, and fishing, and especially deer hunting with his brothers.  Leon was known for his dry sense of humor.  Linda will always cherish the memories of them sitting on the back porch reading scripture and drinking coffee.  He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Elaine Durr.

Survivors are his wife, Linda Durr of Carlsbad, NM; sons: Clint Keeney and wife, Fernanda of Sachse, Texas, Jason Durr of Carlsbad, NM; daughters: Trisha Holub of Carlsbad, NM, Heather Niday and husband, Brian of Roswell, NM; grandchildren: Elora, Kira, Brianna, David, Joshua and Giovanna; siblings: Ken Durr and wife, Charla of Amarillo, Texas, Robert Durr and wife, Pam of Carlsbad, NM, Julie Porter and husband, Mike of Carlsbad, NM, David Durr of Carlsbad, NM, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Clint Keeney, Jason Durr, Brian Niday, Joshua Holub, David Niday, and Jeff Bradford.  Honorary pallbearers are Ken Durr, Robert Durr and David Durr.
