Lena Vining

Lena Vining passed away on April 5, 2026 at University Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, April 30, 2026 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home followed by a potluck meal at the Boys & Girls Club located at 206 E. Pecan Street, Carlsbad, NM. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Lena was born on December 23, 1946. She worked as a registered nurse in Carlsbad and the neighboring communities for 50 years. The last 18 of those years were dedicated to her beloved granddaughter, Ally.

Lena was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Erminia Granger; daughter, Bonnie Granger; son, Edward Louis Vining; brothers and sisters: Harry Granger Jr., Santiago "Bebe" Granger, Erminia "Minnie" Ramirez, Edward Granger, Jay Granger, Linda Lujan, Daniel Granger, and David Granger.

She is survived by her daughter, Stephanie Hughes and husband, Justin; four grandchildren: Allyson, Dylan, Torrance, and Trace; her sisters: Mary Ann Florez, Jane Armendariz; her brothers: Louie, Robert, and Rudy Granger.

Lena's last wish was that everyone be fed! All who knew her are welcome.
