Larry Dean Burnette Jr., 49, of Carlsbad, NM, passed away Sunday, November 2, 2025. Cremation will take place, and a memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 PM, Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ronald McDuff officiating.
Larry was born December 10, 1975 in Farmington, NM to Larry Sr. and Sherri (Graham) Burnette. He graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1995. Larry worked alongside his dad at Sun Country Steel, which his dad owned and operated and always considered himself a proud Iron Worker, even though he went on to pursue other lines of work after an accident that left him with a head and shoulder injury. Larry married the love of his life Amanda Estes on January 1, 2010 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was an avid Chicago Bears fan, enjoyed working on and riding his motorcycle, being outdoors fishing, and driving around on old backroads with his family jamming out to rock and roll with their 3 Pitbulls in tow, (Lucy, Marley, and Teressa) whom he loved and adored. Larry never met a stranger and had a way of making others laugh. To say he had a big heart would be an understatement, he would do anything for anyone! He was preceded in death by his father, Larry Burnette, Sr. and mother, Sherri Burnette.
Survivors include his wife, Amanda Estes Burnette; sons: Liam Burnette, Hunter Cunningham, Josiah Cunningham and longtime girlfriend Melody Cox; grandson, Asher Cunningham; sister, Trina Smith; and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
