LaNita Hougland

LaNita Marie Hougland “Mom”, 64, of Carlsbad, NM passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, in Carlsbad, NM. LaNita was born on October, 6, 1959, in Oklahoma City, OK to Mitchel and Marie Hailey.

Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 PM Friday, April 12, 2024, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home with Pastor David Rogers officiating. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

LaNita was a one of kind rockstar, who always lived life to the fullest. She enjoyed riding motorcycles, going bowling with her mom, reading, sewing, and playing in her rock band. She had endless love for her family, and always did everything she could do to take care of them. She will be deeply missed and never be forgotten.    

LaNita was preceded in death by her father, Mitchel Hailey; mother, Marie (Freeman) Hailey; husband, Larry Hougland; grandson, David William King; and two cats, Lil Bitt and Big Boy.

LaNita is survived by her five children: Dale King, Sandra Hougland (Paul Martinez), Chris Hougland, Steve Houghland, Michael Hougland-Snyder, and Amanda Hougland; four grandchildren: Dylon Bryant King, Esther Snyder, Ethan Hougland, and Matthew Hougland; brother, Jim Morris (Gina); and several friends and extended family.
